Folks, we took a huge leap forward today. 

The biggest anti-gun bills failed to pass out of their house of origin.

This includes:

  1. SHB 1283, House open carry ban, 3+ people near a protest = felony
  2. SSB 5078, Senate Magazine Ban
  3. SB 5217, Senate assault weapons ban (AWB)

WELL DONE. 

It was hard work. It certainly wasn’t a landslide. 

Your voices ABSOLUTELY mattered today. You were HEARD. 

Everyone pitched in and emailed/called your legislators. A LOT. Over and over again. 

And at the end of the day today they didn’t have a guaranteed path forward to passing these bills. 

Take a deep breath. 

Join me in pouring yourself a stiff, celebratory drink! 

Today, we were all successful. 

And tomorrow we start up the engines again. The fight isn’t over. We have to remain vigilant–and ACTIVE. Remember, any rule can be suspended with enough votes, so we’re not totally out of the woods until Sine Die on April 25. 

Matt Sands will post up the current slate of bills that we’re watching, and we’ll start the full-court press on the House and Senate with the crossover bills. 

We’ll keep close eye on these, while we all keep up the pressure for the remaining bills.
